New Book by Eric Herrenkohl to be published by John Wiley & Sons
Wynnewood, PA — July 13, 2009 Wynnewood, PA: John Wiley & Sons Publishers has contracted with Eric Herrenkohl to write a book for small and mid-sized businesses on how to find and hire A-player employees. The book, entitled How to Hire A-Players: Finding the Top People for your Team—Even if You Don’t Have a Recruiting Department” will be on bookshelves and available for on-line purchase April 12.
“Even in a weak economy, it can be difficult for privately-held businesses to find and hire the best talent,” Herrenkohl explained. “Companies post jobs on the Internet and get bombarded with resumes. But they don’t have confidence that they are finding the best people. This book explains the solutions that I use with clients to consistently find and hire great employees.”
The book is based on Herrenkohl Consulting’s work with companies across the country to build great sales teams. The book is unique in that it describes where and how companies can find great employees, rather than just describing how to run a better job interview. “There are a ton of books on the shelves that explain how to do a better job of interviewing. There are few if any books that give a systematic explanation of where and how to find great employees. That is the focus of this book,” says Herrenkohl.
The book pays particular attention to strategies that sales organizations can use for finding new top producers. “I have found that companies with poor sales organizations see recruiting as an event that occurs when a position opens up. Companies with great sales organizations see recruiting as an ongoing process of building a great team,” says Herrenkohl.
The book provides examples of companies that consistently hire talented employees even though they don’t have an internal recruiting department or big HR department. Strategies explained in the book include:
1. The “A” player employee profiles of leading companies across industries.
2. How to create a “farm team” of potential “A” player employees.
3. Specific places to look for “A” player employees depending upon your industry.
4. How to make employee referral programs for new hires more effective.
5. How to hold executives and managers accountable for continually identifying new “A” player employees.
6. Using LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook in the recruiting without being overwhelmed.
7. The most important questions to ask in an interview.
8. How to use personnel assessments well.
9. How and when to use recruiters wisely.
Eric Herrenkohl is the author of the upcoming book How to Hire A-Players: Finding the Top People for your Team—Even if You Don’t Have a Recruiting Department, John Wiley & Sons, on shelves in April 2010.
